Cascade Region events postponed or canceled due to COVID-19 concerns
I hope everyone is doing well, and staying healthy. I wanted to update you all on where we all stand as a club at this time.
First, all Cascade events through April 24 have been cancelled. No coffee gatherings, no drives or tech sessions. We are not alone, I’ve been in regular communication with the other 9 Regions within Zone 6, and all have similar restrictions.
At this time, the April 25 trip to Bend to see and drive the new Taycan has not been cancelled, but should be considered tentative based on whether the current state guidelines on group gatherings and sizes are extended. Because some of you are planning overnight accommodations for this trip, the decision on whether to cancel or not will be made at least one week in advance.
We will evaluate May (and later events) as we get closer.
I mentioned in a prior message that club drives are probably low-risk, other than the pre-drive meeting and waiver signing. Even so, it does not seem prudent to gather in groups during this health crisis.
However—taking off for a drive on your own is extremely low-risk, and can be therapeutic. A breath of normalcy in a world turned upside-down. So please, go out and drive some. (That is assuming that you aren’t in my situation, in that my car is not quite ready to drive. Soon, I hope.)
Again, our focus at this point is the health and well-being of our members. It is disappointing to have to deal with this, but staying healthy is more important than club events. Again, if you have questions or comments, please send them to email@example.com.
Thanks for all of your understanding!
