Is it spring yet? I don’t know what it’s been like where you are, but it has been both colder and wetter than average in my neighborhood. And while I know that and late snow pack in the mountains is a really good thing, I’m especially tired of the cold. I personally am really ready for some nicer weather.
But I also know that the weather has not prevented both Cascade chapters from getting started on their events for 2022. Of course, the monthly social coffee get-togethers have been happening for months, but the day trip drives have also resumed in both chapters. I myself even drove down to the March Cars & Coffee in Medford, which was only the second time I’ve been able to come down since my presidential duties started in 2019 (global pandemics and associated lockdowns will do that.) But this year is starting to show some promise (assuming the weather finally breaks.) Watch for event emails from your chapter reps, check (or subscribe to) the event calendars on the website, or watch for event announcements on Facebook.
In the last newsletter I wrote about the member increase we had during 2021. And it is still happening—PCA reported that Cascade was third (out of 146 regions) in membership growth for the first quarter of 2022, when factored based on size of region. I’m not sure if we’ve ever done that before. And we had a good month in April, too. Our numbers are now 231 primary, and 360 total. That’s pretty amazing, really.
Part of that growth is simply due to the amazing cars we drive. When people buy a first Porsche, it seems normal for them to join the club. And that is what we see with these new members. But we need to remember that once they are part of the group, it’s on all of us to welcome them and include them so that they will want to continue with us.
Again, thanks for stopping by, and I hope to see some of you on the road before long!
